Day of military glory of Russia (the defeat of fascist troops at Stalingrad)

Description:

Stalingrad 1943, downtown
On February 2, all of Russia celebrates one of the days of military glory - the Day of the defeat in 1943 by the Soviet army of fascist troops in the battle of Stalingrad.

The plans of the German fascist command for the summer of 1942 were aimed at defeating Soviet troops in the south of the country.

Their plans included: to seize the oil regions of the Caucasus, the rich agricultural areas of the Don and Kuban, disrupt the communications linking the center of the country with the Caucasus, and create conditions for the end of the war in their favor. This task was assigned to Army Groups A and B.

But their plans were ruined...

200 heroic days of defense of Stalingrad went down in history as the bloodiest and most cruel.

The surrender of the city then equated not only with military, but also with ideological defeat.

During the defense of the city, more than seven hundred and a half thousand Soviet soldiers and officers were killed and wounded.
