Monument to the hero D.S. Kalinin

Big Utrish village, Anapa district, Krasnodar Territory

Description:

In the resort of Anapa there is a memorial monument erected in honor of the hero Dmitry Kalinin, who gave his life during the battle with the German fascists. The memorial is located on the road in the direction of Bolshaya Utrisha, near the village of Sukko.

Dmitry Kalinin was a captain of the Soviet amphibious troops who died in the Second World War, fighting the fascist invaders. Kalinin accomplished a real feat. He was seriously wounded and surrounded by numerous German enemies. When the Nazis were going to take him prisoner, Kalinin detonated a grenade, blowing up his enemies and himself on it.

To honor the memory of the heroic act, the commandant of the occupied resort city decided to install a cross on the site of the death of the Soviet hero. The cross that the Nazis put up never survived. In its place, an obelisk was installed, on which the inscription reads, about the eternal glory of the heroes who gave their lives for the Soviet homeland on the night of the first of May 1943.
