Anapa

Local history museum

Krasnodar Territory, Anapa, Protapova St., 1, Russia

About the company:

Many of us know Anapa as a beautiful children’s resort, forgetting that it is a city with a long history, founded long before our era. In the city museum of local lore there is a rich collection – silent evidence of the historical past of the ancient city.

The museum is located near the Anapa lighthouse in the building of the Shetnev teachers’ gymnasium, built in 1909. Experienced guides will tell tourists about the history of the city, starting with the Bosporan Kingdom and ending with modern events. Archaeological finds of different periods will delight connoisseurs of ancient artifacts, and rare photos and unique documents collected in the museum will allow you to plunge into the history of the last century.

A large section of the exposition is devoted to the flora and fauna of the Black Sea, as well as the unique nature of the Anapa coast. There are birds and animals that live in the local area. It should be noted that the habitat of each animal or bird is recreated to the smallest detail. It feels like living animals are looking out of their hiding places. Children especially like this section.

The local history museum of Anapa regularly holds various exhibitions that attract a huge number of people. The most popular is the exhibition of winemaking “Ode to Anapa grapes”, regularly held since 2003.
