Apsheronsk

Absheronsk is a city in Russia, the administrative center of the Absheron district of the Krasnodar Territory. Population of 40.6 thousand inhabitants (2018). The city is located on the northern slope of the Main Caucasian Range, on the Pshekha River (Kuban Basin, left tributary of the White River), on the border with Adygea.

The Apsheronskaya and Neftegorskaya railway stations are a dead end on the branch from the Armavir-Tuapse line.

Absheronsk was founded in 1863 as a village at the camp of the Absheron Regiment of the Russian army, the regiment was named after the place of cantonment at the Absheron port during the Persian campaign of Peter I in 1722-1723. During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied, 5,000 local residents and Red Army men were shot.

In 1947, the village acquired the status of a city and the name of Absheronsk. Absheronsk - Krasnodar - 120 kilometers, Absheronsk - Maikop - 45 kilometers.

The climate is moderate, the average temperature in July + 22.8 C, in January + 1.8 C.

The city has the production of countertops made of artificial stone, timber industry, fish processing industry.
