The Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God

arkhangelsk, Loginova St. 1

Description:

The construction of the temple began in 1995 as part of a charitable project and the Blagovest public foundation. The competition project was won by architect G.V. Rodionov from Syktyvkar. The temple was supposed to become a semblance of the lost Assumption Church, but much higher so that the church did not get lost against the background of the surrounding high-rise buildings.

The Assumption Church is located on the territory of the Antoniev-Siysky Monastery, so there is a small chapel in the name of the Monk Antony nearby. The white stone church with a forty-meter bell tower was completed on August 28, 2008 on the feast of the Assumption of the Mother of God. It was lit by Bishop of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogorsk Tikhon. Two specially brought stones were laid in the brickwork from the Trinity Cathedral of the Siysk Monastery and from the Nicene Cathedral.
