Holy Cross Cathedral
Solzenskoe, Arkhangelsk region, Russia
Description:
The upper part of the walls is built of granite boulders mixed with bricks, and the lower part of limestone, which was then brought to the island.
The cathedral of the classical type of temple architecture is a building consisting of 4 pillars, three semicircular protrusions and a powerful cube.
Currently, the temple is partially destroyed, in connection with which, the foundations of two chapters on the east side are covered with a high roof. Now the temple is two meters lower in height than before, due to the fact that the design of the poppies on the drum in the center was simplified. Previously, multi-arched spans were equipped at the entrances.
Previously, the temple looked much more beautiful in terms of architecture, and more harmonious. These days it looks out of proportion, bulky and powerful.
