Chumbarov Avenue - Luchinsky

from Vucheysky Street to Freedom Street

Description:

The central avenue of Arkhangelsk is named after Chumbarov-Luchinsky. It starts from Vucheysky Street and stretches to Freedom Street. Part of the avenue from St. John of Kronstadt to Karl Liebknecht Street is pedestrian, and motor traffic is prohibited here. Many guidebooks call this avenue a museum street, on which historical architectural monuments are located.

Several years ago, the city authorities decided to preserve the old houses, and all of them slowly began to be brought to Chumbarov-Luchinsky Avenue. Today, every two meters you can see old wooden houses with carved casings and elegant porches, spacious merchant houses and much more. The project of restoration of the old housing stock began in 2005 and by its completion in 2009 completely transformed the prospectus.

Here appeared cobblestone pavements, elegant lanterns, benches, flower beds with flowers. The street has become not only one of the main tourist routes, but a favorite place for citizens to walk.
