Sunday Church in Matigora

Not far from the village of Kholmogory in the Arkhangelsk region you can visit the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. The magnificent temple is made in the style of Moscow architecture. It was built in the distant 1694 under the leadership of architect Fyodor Spiridonovich Stafurov. The temple looks extremely advantageous against the backdrop of a picturesque natural landscape.

The main distinguishing feature of the temple can be considered the fact that since the opening it has almost always remained active. There is a legend that the young Mikhail Lomonosov served as a psalmist in the temple.
