Cities are like people: everyone has their own destiny, their own way of life. Our Asbestos cannot boast of centuries-old traditions, it is young. But he has an interesting destiny, people like to live here, and he gave many interesting personalities: talented engineers and managers, artists and poets.

The status of the city was assigned to the working village of Asbestos in June 1933 by the Decree of the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee. Then its population was slightly more than 27 thousand inhabitants. A little earlier, in March of the same year, the first train came to Asbestos by rail, which replaced the old narrow gauge. Assigning the status of the city and launching the railway became powerful impulses for the development of the leading enterprise - the Uralasbest trust, and as a result - the development of the social infrastructure of the city. Asbestos, an amazing and unique mineral that gave the city its name, was found here in 1885. Since the first five-year plans, the production of asbestos and building materials has grown rapidly. The city was pretty, too.

Today, Asbestos is a major industrial center. The city-forming enterprise is the joint-stock company "Uralasbest". The brand of the Ural plant of asbotechnic products is well known in the country and abroad. In our city, not only asbestos is produced, but also paronite and car linings, brick and crystal, reinforced concrete and porcelain products, furniture and metal structures ...

Asbestos has 39 preschools, 20 educational institutions, eight additional education institutions, a childhood home, an Olympic reserve school, which has educated many international athletes.

For leisure of citizens: 5 cultural institutions, 10 physical education and sports institutions. Hospitals and clinics of our city, according to experts, provide the quality of treatment not lower than in the regional center.

According to Eduard Rossel, former governor of the Sverdlovsk region: Today, the city of "mountain linen" is well known not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders. The products of its enterprises are in great demand both on the foreign and domestic market.

But the city is primarily about people. It is thanks to their hard work, professional skill that Asbestos develops and improves from year to year.
