About the company:
The local history museum in the village of Cherny Yar, Chernoyarsk district is a branch of the Astrakhan Museum-Reserve.
Of great historical interest is the building of the museum, built in 1824. Before the revolution of 1917, this white-stone two-storey building housed the presence of places, then it was converted into the district House of Culture. In 1967, on the initiative of local historian Nikifor Illarionovich Matyushkov, the Black Yar Defense Museum of 1919 was organized here. Visitors to the museum were both locals and guests from neighboring areas and regions. Their number reached 18 thousand people a year.
For a long time, the museum worked on a voluntary basis, but in 1990, by the decision of the Astrakhan Regional Council of People's Deputies, it became a branch of the Astrakhan Museum-Reserve and was renamed the Historical and Local History Museum of the Cherny Yar village. After that, the development of the museum as a state institution began.
In 1991, the museum was given the second floor of the former House of Culture (over 450 m2), which allowed to significantly expand the museum expositions.
In 2014, the museum was updated - the walls were repaired, ceilings were replaced, modern lamps and air conditioning systems were installed. Updated expositions were opened on May 15, 2015.
Currently, the museum has more than 2,000 exhibits on the nature, history and culture of the Chernoyarsk region, various thematic exhibitions are exhibited, excursions and events are held for all ages and categories of visitors.
