About the company:
The Museum of the history of the city is located in a historical building, built in the early XIX century, and is a monument of regional importance. It is documented that in 1828-1881 the building belonged to the Ulyanov family. In 1831, I.N. Ulyanov was born here - a great educator, the father of V.I. Lenin.
The main exposition of the museum is called “City and citizens” and is dedicated to the history of the city, its inhabitants, covering the period from the end of the XVIII to the beginning of the XX century. Here you can get acquainted with different social groups of citizens, which form the basis of the Astrakhan society of the XIX century.
The hall “Working People of Astrakhan” tells about the life of peasants and burghers, as well as about the crafts that were traditionally developed in Astrakhan. In the adjacent hall “Ulyanovs in Astrakhan” there are photos, copies of archival documents, as well as personal belongings belonging to the Ulyanov family.
The second floor of the museum of the history of the city introduces the business class of Astrakhan - merchants. The interior of the merchant’s dining room and the merchant’s office are presented here, as well as rich information material about the patrons of the city. A look into the rich life of the upper class will allow a hall dedicated to the nobles.
In 2014, part of the halls of the museum were updated and new expositions were opened. The exhibition “From the history of electric transport in Astrakhan” is the only place in the city where you can see trams. Here are photos, documents, booklets, reference books, as well as unique models of trams of different years.
