The city of Aznakayevo is located in the Kama region, on the slopes of the Bugulma-Belebeevskaya hill, on the Styarl River (left tributary of the Ik River), 34 km. north-west of the Utaz railway station (Ulyanovsk-Ufa line), 376 km from Kazan. Road junction of interdistrict significance. The population is 36,000.
Founded in 1762, by 1859 - a village. In 1931-1965 and since 1965 - the center of Aznakaevsky district. Since 1956 - an urban-type settlement, since 1987 - a city.
In 1951, oil and gas fields were discovered in the area of the city.
Population
The total number of residents in the district is 67 thousand 631 people, in the city of Aznakayevo - 36 thousand 358 people, in the urban-type village of Aktobe - 10 thousand 358 people, in the village - 20 thousand 496 people.
Industry
Industrial enterprises of the district are concentrated mainly in the city of Aznakayevo. The oil industry is developed (NGDU "Aznakaevskneft", CJSC "RITEK-Introduction"), there are enterprises of mechanical engineering and metal processing (JSC "Aznakayevsky plant "Neftemash" site of the plant), food industry (Aznakayevsky butterworks, LLC "Aznakayevsky Ikmek", LLC "Aznakayevsky bakeryskombinat"), light industry (JSC "Aznakay Kiemnere").
Agriculture

The largest protected natural area in the Aznakaevsky district is the state complex nature reserve "Chatyr-Tau". Geographically, it is one of the most elevated points of our republic – 334.5 m above sea level. A wide variety of weed-field and steppe grasses were found here. The state nature reserve "Vladimir slope" is a section of the indigenous slope of the Yamashka River - a tributary of the Steppe Zai, where plots of heteroherbs of the typchakov povel steppe with the largest population of spring adonis and a set of meadow, steppe plants and insects listed in the Red Book of RT have been preserved.
