Bakal

Bacal is a city in Satkinsky district of the Chelyabinsk region.

There are several versions of the appearance of the name of the city: from the Bashkir "bacal arcasse" - "mountain range", from the Bashkir word "frog".

The population is 19 590 thousand people (2017).

The city is located on the western slope of the Southern Urals, between the ridges of Suley and Big Suka, 258 km west of Chelyabinsk.

Economy: Bakal ore management, Bakal plant of mining equipment for the production of spare parts for excavators, a branch of Zlatoust garment factory; rubble production.

Education: three secondary general education schools, Bakal College of Professional Technologies and Service, Vocational School No. 31, Vocational School No. 50, Children's School of Arts of Bakal.

Attractions: Museum of History and Local History. The railway bridge is an architectural monument. Near the city - a picturesque natural object - Sheehan Rock.
