Balakhnin Museum of Local Lore

The Balakhnin Museum of Local Lore has been working continuously since 07.11.1927. The museum employs five employees and five researchers. The collection of the museum includes more than seven thousand four hundred and forty items. Balakhna Museum of Local Lore on November 7, 2002 to celebrate its 75th anniversary. It is one of the oldest museums in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The museum has 5 exhibition halls, as well as an exhibition and lecture hall. Since 1950, the museum is located in the building of the former Church of the Intercession (the second half of the 17th century). The museum conducts a huge research work, actively cooperates with the Nizhny Novgorod University, participates in joint projects "Partnership of Museum Libraries" (Soros) "Balakhny Lace - Past and Present" (under the President of the Russian Federation) The museum participated in the action "Altar of the Fatherland", dedicated to the Nizhny Novgorod militia. After that, a traveling exhibition was decorated, which acquaints Balakhin residents with the cities through which the militia passed the Balakhnin Museum of Local Lore works in the form of a non-profit institution with specialization in the field of local history, that is, it does not have as the main goal of its activities the extraction of profit and does not distribute the profit between the participants.
