Museum of History

The Museum of History of Balakovo as a branch of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local History exists since July 1986. Without its own funds, the museum opened with exhibitions from the collections of the regional museum of local history. Invaluable help was provided by local historian A.A. Derevyanchenko. The materials of the museum reflect the history of the city from the specific village founded by the Old Believers in the XVIII century, and the "wheat capital of the Volga region" of the XIX century - to the modern city.

In the absence of a permanent exhibition, there are temporary exhibitions in the museum. Many exhibitions include private collections. The exhibition "History in the Mirror of Life" is invariably popular. The exhibition "War in the fate of a generation" tells about the everyday life of countrymen at the front and in the rear, about the expeditions of the Balakovo search detachment "Nabat". Memorial exhibitions introduce famous Balakians.
