Baltic and Baltic Spit
Description:
Baltiysk is the westernmost city of Russia and the naval base of the Baltic Fleet. Most of it is located on the shores of the Baltic Sea on the Zemland (Kaliningrad) peninsula, fenced off from the Baltic Spit by a narrow strait. Here you will feel the special atmosphere of the seaside port city, as well as get acquainted with many preserved sights of the Swedish, German and Russian period of the city development. You will see: the most beautiful lighthouse of the Baltic in the Kaliningrad region, the largest monument to a woman on a horse in the world, an ancient church, an elegant mall, a military harbor and much more. A trip to Baltiysk is interesting because in the westernmost city you can see at a distance of several meters different types of military and commercial ships, cruisers, submarines standing on the road or going through the sea channel to the port. Baltiysk is not only military. There are a lot of fish and fishermen here: there is both the sea and the bay! If you want to fish, that's fine. It is possible to visit the Baltic Spit - for this we will go along the Kaliningrad sea channel by ferry: the German hydroharbour, the runway of the German airfield, the ruins of the Fort "West".
