St. George Cathedral of the Baltic Fleet
238520, Kaliningrad region, Baltiysk, Kuznetsova str., 3
Description:
St. George Maritime Cathedral is located in the Kaliningrad region. The building was built in 1866 and was originally a German church located in East Prussia. The building is a vivid example of the Gothic trend in architecture. A special atmosphere is created by lancet window openings that visually stretch the building. The whole image of the building seems to be towards the sky.
As a result of hostilities in 1945, the church suffered significant damage. In the USSR, the church was used as a warehouse. In the 90s of the twentieth century, the church resumed its activities as an Orthodox cathedral.
St. George Maritime Cathedral is located on Admiral N. Kuznetsov Street, 3 in the city of Baltiysk, near the Central Naval Museum.
