ooh Red Army, Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region, Russia

Description:

The BKA-509 gun turret is a real former military artillery turret type, which was removed from the armored boat "river tank". Such a military transport received its name from the towers of the T-34 tank, which were installed on it. The BKA-509 armored boat itself from April 1943 to the last days fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, and one of the first to land its troops on the Spit Frisha Nerun. It sank on the fourth of July 1944 from a mine in the Vyborg Bay.

The BKA-509 gun tower is located near the walls of the Swedish fortress, Pillau, near the main street of the city - Lenin Avenue, in the south of Baltiysk. The gun tower is located on a small granite pedestal. This place is very popular among tourists who are interested in military history. Recently, Andrei “SilverGhost” Kuznetsov took a photo of the 76-mm turret of the BKA-509 armored boat, which opened a series of his photo reviews, from the territory of former Prussia.
