Excursion route "Altai Reserve Trails"

June 24th. Breakfast. Departure towards Mongolia. North Chui Ridge. It is considered one of the highest ridges of Altai. Mountain peaks with a height of more than 4000 meters are covered with non-melting snow caps and eternal glaciers. Visit to the Geyser Lake (view); panorama of the Aktru glacier. Next we have the famous mountainous Kurai steppe, in which the winter temperature is registered -65 Celsius. This place is considered one of the coldest places on our planet and ranks second in this indicator after the cold pole Oymyakon. At 864 km, our route goes to the right in the direction of the colored Kyzyl-Chin mountains, which translates as “Red Gorge”. Transfer to off-road transport. The road to the Red Gorge is gravel. In the valley of the Kyzyl-Chin river, on the way from the village of Chagan-Uzun to the Martian landscapes, you can see ancient Turkic fences - traces of the stay of Turks in the Altai. The landscapes of Kyzyl-Chin are somewhat reminiscent of the Martian panorama - in the red desert area with canyons, red-brown layers of rocks prevail, interspersed with colored horizontal stripes from purple to bright orange and white colors. Excursion route "Lake Dayan-Nuur"

June 26th. Breakfast. Today we will start a very beautiful climb to Lake Dayan Nuur. On the way we will stop at the village of Buyant - a typical Mongolian Sumon. Rising higher, it becomes cooler, and you will see the eternal glaciers and snow-white, not melting snow caps of the Mongolian Altai. Here lies the border between the familiar world of civilization with its bustle, problems, worries and fantastic silence, tranquility, majesty of mountains and valleys. You will feel all the pristine power of nature, with pleasure plunged into the leisurely and measured way of life of local shepherds and hunters. We will overcome a very beautiful and powerful river Khovd, winding along our path and originating high in the mountains near the Five Sacred Peaks (Tavyn-Bogd). The color of the water in this river varies from deep blue to milky white. Having reached the first lake Dayan Nuur, located at an altitude of 2087 m, we will set up a tent camp next to the lake on the edge of the forest. Lake Dayan Nuur Reserve is a basin surrounded by snowy mountains near the border with China. After dinner, you can climb to the top of the spur of the Yamatyn-Under mountain - admire and capture the views opening at sunset.

The Hovd River Valley

June 27th. Breakfast. When we gather camp early in the morning, we will explore Mongolia. Our way to the lakes Hhoton Nuur and Hurgan Nuur lies through the majestic mountains and passes. We will cross the picturesque green valleys of emerald color and ford rapid mountain rivers. On the way we will meet many mounds - ancient burials of outstanding warriors of Genghis Khan and peoples who lived in these places more than 2000 years ago. Carved from solid mountain stone monuments, tombstones and mounds themselves are perfectly preserved. You will see whole streets of mounds and bas-reliefs of different eras. On the lakes you will see in abundance graceful cranes-beautiful, hoops, wild ducks, swans, eagles, falcons and many other birds. High in the mountains here live mountain sheep, wolves, lynx. After breaking up the tent camp, dinner and rest by the campfire. Overnight in tents.

Moving to Aymak Bayan-Ulgiy

June 29th. After breakfast, moving along the valley of the Khovd River, which is the most abundant and stormy river in Mongolia, we get to Bayan-Ulgiy. Visit the local bazaar, which is famous for its magnificent products made of natural camel wool, yaks. You can buy socks, outerwear, very warm sweaters, vests, blankets and camel wool pillows, leather jackets and much more. Accommodation at Altai Lodge.
