Shavlin Lakes - A Good Mission

DAY 1

Meeting of the group in Barnaul and moving by registered vehicles to the village of Chibit. The path passes along the famous Chui tract along the Katun and Chuya rivers, on which fascinating views will open to us. We will also overcome two mountain road passes - Seminsky (1800 m) and Chike-Taman (1400 m).

Overnight in tents on a picturesque clearing in a campground near the village of Chibit on the banks of the Chuya River. It is possible to recharge the equipment and store extra things.

DAY 2

Today is a difficult day, as it is our first running - and immediately on the pass. We will be greatly helped by the horses on which we will transfer the products from our backpacks. We carry only our personal belongings in backpacks and perhaps some of the common equipment necessary for the transition or the organization of a snack.

The higher, the more interesting the views open to us. We camp on a viewing glade under the Orosky Pass. Rest, make dinner. In the evening we have team games by the campfire - everything is as it should be on the second day.

8 km crossing. It's 900 meters high.

DAY 3

Keep going. The trail will lead us along the picturesque plateau of Eshtykol, from which views of the North Chui Alps with snowballs open. Ahead of the ford and the transition through the taiga forest to the valley of the Shavla River.

We stay overnight in the taiga forest near the picturesque stream Shabaga.

Transition 13 km. Reset altitude 200 meters.

DAY 4

This day we will spend on the improvement of the parking at the creek

DAY 5

We continue along the Shavla River, along the way there are fascinating views of the valley with river floods, snow peaks, glaciers. We reach the parking lot on the shore of Shavlinsky Lake, where we get up camp for the next 4 nights. From the parking lot we admire the Tale and Beauty mountains, their glaciers shine in the sun.
In the evening, a bath by the lake.

Transition 14 km. Riding 500 meters.

DAY 6

Daylight. Radial exit (without backpacks). We will walk higher along the lake, then up the channel of Shavla on the Upper Shavli Lake. We'll also make an exit to the glacier.

Going 7.5 km one way. Riding 500 meters.

DAY 7

Day. Radial access to Mount Pyramid (3,150 meters). From the top there are views of the neighboring snow-capped peaks, the upper Shavlinskoye Lake. And in good weather – even in Belukha, the highest point of Siberia.

Transition to the top 4 km. The height gain is 1,150 meters. And 4km back to camp.

DAY 8

Daylight. The opportunity to relax on the shore of the lake, take beautiful pictures. You can also go to the bathhouse and buy a garius – a very tasty fish from the lake. And if you take the gear, then fishing yourself.

Days 9 AND 10

These days we will lay down for the implementation of our mission to improve the trail and parking

DAY 11

We're going back. Today our task is to reach the parking lot under the Oroi Pass, so early ascent. But everyone has already fully entered the active marching rhythm, so it should not be very difficult.

24 km crossing. It's 300 meters high.

DAY 12

We go down to the valley of the Oroy River, cross the familiar bridge over the Chuyu River and reach the picturesque glade near the village of Chibit. We are located on the base in tents. There is an opportunity to go to the bath, play volleyball and spend a farewell evening at the campfire with new friends.

Crossing 12 km. Reset altitude of 1000 meters.

DAY 13

Departure to Barnaul. Arrival at 20:00
