The Chelnock monument
at the intersection of Popova Street and People's Boulevard, Belgorod
Description:
Belgorod has long been a record holder for the most original monuments. Where else can you find monuments to the janitor, teacher, grandmother, “shuttle”? It's impossible to get past them!
The sculpture "Cuttles", just one of those urban sculptures that adorn the city. Many remember that in the mid-1990s there was such a profession - "shuttles". Then, after the collapse of the USSR, people went somewhere abroad to buy goods, then sold it on the market and again went to buy new goods. Really, like shuttles, back and forth. It is these "shuttles" and installed in Belgorod in November 2007 monument. It stands in the most suitable place for him, near the city market. A man and a woman with loaded bags with trolleys walk towards the shopping rows. The composition is three meters high made of bronze.
The monument was erected by Belgorod sculptor Taras Kostenko. The author of the monument considers the monument optimistic. After all, a bronze boy and a girl dragged bags up the mountain, and the descent is always easier. Overcoming this barrier is a kind of symbol of the transition from the old life to the new. The money for the creation of the monument was collected by businessmen - then "shuttles", for whom it is not just a sculpture, but a memory of that difficult, but romantic time.
