Monument to the Incorruptible Garishnik

d. Belgorod, junction of Vatutin Avenue and Gubkin Street

Description:

The monument to the Incorruptible Gaishnikov is one of the favorite sculptural compositions of Belgorod residents. The monument was erected to a real person - Pavel Kirillovich Grechikhin. He really worked in the traffic police and was famous throughout Belgorod for his honesty and integrity. This person did not take a bribe at all, and literally everything was paid from ordinary drivers to local “bumps”. It is said that he once fined his wife. Belgorod residents say that Grechikhin punished not only his wife, but also his son, neighbors, friends. Once upon a time, he even got his immediate boss! However, such zeal at work by his superiors was not appreciated, he retired as a petty officer and died in a nursing home.

Therefore, it is very pleasant that the monument reminds citizens and guests of Belgorod of a simple but worthy person who served with honor and followed the order in his beloved city. The white portopey, striped baton and tablet of the sergeant Grechikhin are stored in the regional museum of the Internal Affairs Department, his techniques are studied by the young generation of road inspectors, and in 2004 it was time when the integrity of the traffic police officer was awarded a monument. No wonder on the pedestal of the monument there is an inscription “Good glory is more important than wealth” and fresh carnations lie.

The sculpture is the creation of the hands of local sculptor Anatoly Shishkin. Grechikhin always stood at the post with his iron friend - the Ural motorcycle. They decided to capture them together.
