About the company:

If you want to learn the history of any city or region, visit the local history museum. Such a museum can boast of Belgorod. The largest museum in the region had a difficult fate. During the war, the entire collection, then kept in the walls of the Trinity Monastery, was looted. The new collection began to collect immediately after the end of hostilities, and the museum moved to the Transfiguration Cathedral. At this time, the construction of a new building was underway, which was completed in 1991, and the museum was transferred to a new purpose-built building (architect V.V. Vishnevsky). Near the entrance to the museum you can see one of the exhibits of the museum - Polovtskogo stone statue of the XI - XIII centuries in the form of a stone woman.

In the mid-90s, the museum created an exposition “On the past memory returning...”, which presents unique natural monuments, exhibits telling about events in the region from time immemorial to the present day. The collection includes more than 120,000 exhibits, most of which are original. The museum contains unique collections and exhibits on archaeology and ethnography, authentic documents and photographs, rare books, household items, a beautiful natural-scientific collection.

The archaeological, ethnographic and numismatic collection should be noted separately. Twice a year, the museum hosts regional local history readings, periodically organizes exhibitions from the museum's funds, annually as part of the museum project "Museum in the Museum" presents the funds of municipal museums of the region.

The museum has a scientific library, which has more than 17 thousand units of local history, methodical, scientific reference literature and periodicals.

Come to the museum, it will be interesting!
