Mount Church
South of Belokurikha, Altai Territory, Russia
Description:
Mount Church is one of the most famous sights of the city of Belokurikha, Altai Territory. In winter, the slopes of the mountain are used for skiing, and in summer Tserkovka becomes a place of tourist pilgrimage - it is an amazingly beautiful ecological resort.
You can climb to the top of the mountain on a comfortable chair lift, which functions even in summer. You can, of course, go on foot, but you need to be prepared that climbing the slope will take more than an hour and a half - this is the way only for physically trained people. From the top of the mountain there is a picturesque view of the Biysk Plain and the resort city Belokurikha. The panorama is amazing. After admiring the surroundings, you can walk along the crest of the mountain and relax after climbing in a small restaurant. There is a small telescope nearby to entertain tourists.
Of course, at the top you need to admire the local landmark of the mountain - a large wooden cross installed on a rounded rock, in shape resembling a church dome. Previously, there was a chapel in this place, but in the twenties of the 20th century it was burned, and now only a cross remains of it. Since then, the mountain has been called the Church.
