Belokurikha

Belokurikha River

belokurikha, Altai Krai, Russia

Description:

The river with the poetic name Belokurikha originates on the northern slopes of the Altai mountain Sinyukha. She carries her water along rocky banks and rolls to give them to her older sister, the Ob River.

Belokurikha is an unusual river. Needless to say, it is very beautiful, like all Siberian rivers, so it also has a special secret. The locals could not understand why the water does not freeze even in severe frosts at the confluence of coastal streams into the river, and white steam swirls over the river, wrapping everything around. And then I realized that these streams are not simple, but warm. It was only then that scientists found out that they are not only thermal, but also radon, and treat many diseases.

Today, sanatoriums and rest houses are located along the banks of Belokurikha. Here they heal not only thermal waters, but also beautiful mountain air with increased ionization. Recently, Belokurikha is increasingly used as a ski resort. Relatively mild winter for Siberia and enough snow allows you to ski from December to April.
