In the results of the work of archaeologists under the leadership of Yu.A. Savvateev in the vicinity of Belomorsk in 1963 c 1965, a large accumulation of rock images of petroglyphs was revealed. In the same years, the construction of a protective house-pavilion began over the group of petroglyphs "Demon Tracks", discovered by A.M. Linevsky in 1926. After the completion of construction in 1968, a small exposition dedicated to the archaeological monuments of Karelia was opened there. Since this year, the museum has been called White Sea petroglyphs.
