Blagoveshchensk: history and modernity

We will start our tour in a special atmospheric place on the banks of the Amur River from the ancient history of the late Jurassic period, when the river was just forming, and prehistoric reptiles walked on the ground. We are sure to take a photo with one of them, and those who wish can touch the antiquity of basalts and fossils.

Then we will visit the disintegration, where for the first time the Cossacks and peasants – the first settlers – landed on the site of the future city. Monuments, maps and reconstruction paintings will allow us to imagine those distant and difficult times. And we will go to the first street of Blagoveshchensk and see the reconstruction of the first building, walk along the Bolshoi (now Lenin Street), walk near the Arc de Triomphe, revive in our imagination trade steamers on the banks of the Amur, mentally “hello” to Nikolai Tsesarevich and Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, walk along the trading houses of the XIX century, and compare their modern appearance with old photos! The twentieth century of Blagoveshchensk is also remarkable for bright pages, from the establishment of Soviet power and defense against the Japanese during the Great Patriotic War, to the development of industry, agriculture and the construction of BAM and hydroelectric power plants in the Amur region. We'll talk about that too! The tour program will feature many interesting facts and stories from the life of the whole city, as well as its individual residents, since the end of the nineteenth century!
