The Chelnock Monument
Blagoveshchensk, near the Amur Fair, closer to the street. Amur
Description:
Monument to the entrepreneur of the late XX century or, simply speaking, "shuttle" was installed in Blagoveshchensk near the building of the Amur Fair on May 24, 2008. The author of the monument was sculptor Valery Razgonyaev.
The monument is made of bronze and weighs about two tons. The height of the monument is more than two meters, the metal thickness averages about four centimeters. They cast it in pieces, and then they fit together. This is truly jewelry work – on the “shuttle” even seams are not visible.
The bronze “shuttle” is a collective image of Amur entrepreneurs of the 90s of the twentieth century. Blagoveshchensky “shuttles” went to the border cities of China, bought goods, brought to Russia and resold. Many of the firms that stand on their feet today were once created by former shuttle companies.
The monument depicts a man holding a huge baul in one hand and holding a large box on his shoulder with the other hand. Tired look, serious intelligent face with glasses. For the intelligent appearance of the Amur “shuttle” were the initiators of the project.
There are only four monuments to the shuttle in Russia - in Yekaterinburg, Belgorod, Blagoveshchensk and Kaliningrad. There is such a monument in Ukraine in Slavyansk.
