Albazinsky Local History Museum

Amur region, Skovorodinsky district, Albazino village, str. School, 47

About the company:

The museum opened on April 23, 1974. It is located next to the archaeological monument of federal significance - the settlement "Albazinsky Fortress" (the place of the first fortified settlement of Russians on the Amur in the XVII century). The initiator of the museum was Agrippina Nikolaevna Dorokhina (1911-2002), a hereditary Albanian Cossack from the Surikov family.

The collections of the museum contain unique items of the XVII century, discovered during the archaeological excavations of the monument: a collection of crosses of the defenders of the Albazin Fortress, tools, household items, samples of weapons of the Albanians. The exposition tells about how Russian pioneers mastered the harsh Amur Territory in the XVII century, how in the XIX century, returning here again, they founded the Albazinskaya village. In the center of the exposition is a complex about the history of the creation of the Albazin Voivodeship.

In the 1990s, an ethnographic complex "Cossack hut with a farmstead" of the XIX - early XX century was erected on the territory of the museum with a barn, a port, a forge, a black bath, and a church was built near the farmstead.

In 2000, the Albazin Museum became the winner of the competition among provincial cultural institutions for the award of the newspaper “Culture” “Window to Russia” in the nomination “Museum of the Year”.

Today it is one of the most attractive tourist sites of the Far East of Russia, the venue for regional and all-Russian festivals of Cossack culture, local history conferences.
