The Cathedral of the Trinity of Life Original is a temple of the Russian Orthodox Church in the city of Bryansk. The place on which the cathedral stands has been prayed since the advent of Christianity in the Debryan region. The Cathedral of the Trinity of Life Original is the largest temple of the Bryansk region, the area of the lower tier is 1000 square meters, the upper tier is 882. In the XIII-XIV centuries there was already a maiden monastery on this place. Later, a stone church was built on the territory of the monastery. The monastery was abolished in 1764, and the church became a parish church. In the 30s, the church was ruined, priests were repressed, and the property of the parish was looted. At the request of the faithful, the church was reopened during the occupation in 1942 and has not been closed. After the destruction of the Bolsheviks in 1968, the cathedral was destroyed.
The idea of reviving the cathedral arose in 2002. Patriarch Alexy II got acquainted with the project of restoration of the temple and blessed its construction. Construction began in 2007 under the project of Vasily Aksyonov. On the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, on May 24, 2012, the first Divine Liturgy was performed in the upper tier, and on July 1, 2012, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia performed the rite of great consecration of the throne of the upper tier of the cathedral.
