Bryansk region, Zhukovsky district, Ovstugh village, Tyutcheva street, page 30
About the company:
The village of Ovstugh stretches on eight hills, which are steps down to the river Desna. In the center of the village, on an elevated place, in the 1770s, by order of grandfather N.A. Tyutchev, a wooden house was built, in which Fyodor Tyutchev was born on December 5, 1803. Father Ivan Nikolaevich, taking care of the welfare of the family, at the turn of the 1830s-1840s. ordered the project of a new stone house architect G.F. Gerasimov. The project was made in the style of late Empire. The ground floor was very suitable for utility and utility rooms. The first floor in the spirit of the outgoing fashion of the late XVIII - early XIX centuries allowed to create ceremonial interiors with high ceilings and enfilade arrangement of rooms.
Above the middle part of the house is a mezzanine with a dome-lantern and a spire for a flagpole, on which the flag with the family coat of arms was raised. From the park to the balcony terrace adjacent ramp. The nature and dimensions of the mezzanine rooms, their modest simple finish allowed to restore the bedroom of the poet’s daughter – M.F. Tyutcheva-Birileva. Mary's handicraft samples and personal belongings give special authenticity to this room. Usually in noble houses, the part of the bedroom adjacent to the windows was furnished as a living room, where the hostess received the persons closest to her.
The desire to create separate corners is clearly noticeable. In the neighborhood - the room of Ernestine (the poet's wife), decorated in burgundy tones, which allowed to create a special atmosphere of comfort, warmth and benevolence, undoubtedly inherent in the nature of the hostess. Ernestine’s writing table, sofa, bookcase with favorite books, lamp and other authentic things successfully fit into the recreated interior. On the mezzanine plan there are three more small rooms, which in different years served different purposes and were decorated in different styles. In the restored house, the restorers combined these corners into one hall, allowing to demonstrate personal belongings, documents and photographs transferred to the museum by the heirs of F.I. Tyutchev.
The interior layout of the halls of the first floor only partially corresponds to that which was during the life of the poet. Entering the house from the south side through the central entrance, visitors enter the lobby of the museum house. Opposite the entrance doors, a marble-sculptural image of F.I. Tyutchev by N. Yastrebenetsky is installed. The hall is decorated with paintings by artists from St. Petersburg Beltyukov and Litvinov. The exposition is complemented by the sculptural works of A.I. Kobelinets “M.F. Tyutchev” and “E. Tyutchev – the poet’s wife”.
