Museum of the Tkachev Brothers

Bryansk region, Bryansk, Kuibysheva St., 2

About the company:

The Museum of People’s Artists of the USSR Alexei Petrovich and Sergey Petrovich Tkachev was opened in 1995 as a structural unit of the Bryansk Regional Art Museum. Since the first years of its existence, the museum has become one of the most significant centers of cultural life of the city.

Its expositions were annually replenished with works by A. P. and S. P. Tkachev, donated by artists to the museum and all residents of the Bryansk region. 2006 was a turning point in the history of the museum. The building in which it was located did not fully meet the needs of the growing collection and the expanding exposition. In December 2008, the renovated museum opened its doors to visitors. The Tkachev Brothers Museum has a concert hall, a conference hall with multimedia equipment, rooms for temporary exhibitions, a scientific library and a restoration workshop.

Currently, the collection of the museum has more than 800 works of artists, including paintings that have become classics of Russian fine art of the second half of the XX century, as well as preparatory sketches and sketches for works of different years (from educational and staged works to the works of mature masters). There is no such museum collection, which is based on works belonging to two authors (co-authors), as well as individual works of each of them (both picturesque and graphic), in Russia.

In the museum, along with excursion activities, other forms of scientific and educational activities are widely used: exposition and exhibition projects, an art studio, the Paraskeva club, master classes, museum and pedagogical classes, presentations, round tables, conferences, symposia, creative evenings and concerts, competitions of children's creativity. New Year and Christmas balls, folklore holidays for various categories of visitors are held annually. In 2011, the International Triennial of Children's Fine Creativity named after A. P. and S. P. Tkachev was established.
