Lake Sütkül

Morgaushsky district, Chuvash Republic, Russia

Description:

Among the 754 lakes of Chuvashia, the deepest lake is Syutkul (16.75 m), although in area it is only 4 hectares. Lake Syutkul is located in the Morgaush district on the southern outskirts of the village of the same name, in the upper reaches of the Sorma River basin.

Like many other Chuvash lakes, Syutkul is of karst origin and has an oval shape. The width of this reservoir is 140 meters, and the length is 250 meters. Natural slopes are formed of cracked limestone, so the water has a high hardness and a hard, clay bottom. The water is clean, has no color and smell, visible at 70 cm. Because of the cold underground keys from the bottom (according to local residents), it does not warm up much.

The shore of Lake Sutkul does not overgrow, and the coast is covered with lush grasses. On the north-western side, pine trees and poplars grow, a garden is planted on the slope.

The proximity to the village made the lake irreplaceable and valuable for use in everyday life and economy by the population. Lake Syutkul is also a favorite place for recreation and fishing.
