Art Museum of Novocheboksarsk

April 20, 1983 in Novocheboksarsk took place the grand opening of the Exhibition Hall. The first exhibition was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Union of Artists of Chuvashia. The initiator and organizer of the opening of the exhibition hall - a branch of the State Art Museum was Boris Shymarev - the chief architect of the city. The first director was Elle Leonid Nikolaevich

In 1987, the Union of Artists of the RSFSR donated to Novocheboksarsk more than 600 works of painting, graphics, sculpture, DP. These are the works of famous artists - A. Gritsai, A. Panteleev, G. Nissky, E. Kalnyshev, A. Kolchanov and others. In 1996, the exhibition hall was transformed into a municipal institution of culture - "Art Museum". From 20 to 30 exhibitions are held annually. Of great interest to visitors are personal exhibitions of artists of the city and the Chuvash Republic.
