Pearl of the Caucasus: Chegemka Gorge + Lake Gizhgit. Paragliding and sap surfing on a mountain lake.
Description:
Let's start the tour!
Chegem Gorge + Lake Gizhgit. Individual tour.
Chegem waterfalls and Baksan gorge are perhaps the most popular tourist routes of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic.
Chegem Falls.
According to legend, once in a mountain village lived proud girls with long hair. Once they were attacked by robbers, but they did not surrender, but jumped off a cliff. Their hair caught on the stones, forming waterfalls.
The tennina of the gorge is very narrow, in some parts its width is only 15 meters. The height of the surrounding rocks reaches 300 meters, which gives the water giants even greater beauty and pomp.
Going to the Chegem waterfalls, photos of which will preserve the memory of unusual landscapes for a long time, it should be remembered that a large number of wild animals live in the region. Seals, foxes, mountain goats, bears and hares are far from a complete list of those who live in the gorge. They were brought to these places by forestry farming, and their population is controlled by foresters.
Chegem waterfalls in winter can also surprise. The temperature at this time can drop below - 10 degrees Celsius, but the water flows do not freeze, only covered with a giant ice shell. From the rock ledges hang stalactites, which acquire maximum size in February-March.
The most important attraction of the Chegem gorge is considered by many to be the Chegem waterfalls, but now more and more tourists go further - on the Chegem paradrome and in El-Tubyu aul. After all, in the ancient village of El-Tubyu there is something to see - archaeologists found in these places the parking of a person who is about 15 thousand years old.
In the village there is a unique memorial dedicated to the poet Kaisyn Kuliyev - the wall "One hundred steps to Kaisyn", located along the path leading to the poet's house, on the plates of which his wonderful poems are immortalized. Be sure to follow this path! The works of the poet, who lived in El-Tubyu village, will not leave anyone indifferent - they reflect not only the deep love of the Balkarian writer for life, nature, people - but also the endless pain from the injustice of life, including in relation to the Balkarian people. Undoubtedly wonderful poems!
In the vicinity of the village you can find the remains of ancient buildings, as well as the Malkarukov tower. The tower is built in the Svan style, and quite curious rural legends are associated with it.
One of the most notable attractions is the necropolis of Ferdyk Keshene XI-XVIII centuries. It has eight more or less preserved to this day buildings of two types: more ancient - quadrangular and conical octagonal crypts. Of course, there were more of them before, but most of the buildings were destroyed by merciless time.
The ascent to the necropolis along the trail will take 10-15 minutes, but the view opening on the gorge is worth it - right opposite you can see the Akkaya Massif, which at the top point reaches 3646 meters, and the road that goes to the Doumala Pass, and on the right, as if closing the gorge, you can see the snow-covered peaks of the Main Caucasian Range. From several points overlooks one of the most difficult peaks – Tichtengen.
Chegem parade.
The Chegem Parade is a unique mountain paradrome and deltadrome, several gorges intertwined here and due to this, conditions were formed for the formation of precisely such winds that paragliders need. In the morning and evening you can catch a calm breeze, which is suitable for beginners, but in the afternoon nature includes a decent fan here and then the most interesting begins! On good days, the whole sky is dotted with paragliders and it is a very cool sight!
Further, through the Aktoprak pass we will go to the Baksan gorge to the high-mountain lake Gizhgit.
Aktorak is the most famous pass since ancient times, which allowed to communicate with the residents of the Chegem and Baksan gorges, an ancient trade route passed through it - one of the branches of the Great Silk Road.
There are some kind of fortresses, but built not by human hands, but by nature itself - from improvised raw materials - clay. After all, Aktoprak translated from Balkar and means “white clay”.
The pass is famous for its beautiful views of the Rocky Ridge and the fact that there are places where scenes of the film “Sannikov Land” were filmed (for example, the scene of matchmaking by Georgy Vitsin and Onkilonka).
On the slopes of the pass you can see artificial terraces on which previously cultivated cultures. There are still legends about treasures hidden in these places for several centuries - from the period when one of the sections of the caravan route passed here, to the period of deportation of the Balkar people. After all, Aktorak is a large village, where people never returned after March 8, 1944.
Further, through the village of former, we will get to the high-mountain lake Gizhgit.
Gizhgit is an artificial lake, has a very beautiful turquoise color, around impressive panoramas.
We will tell you the history of this lake and why every year more and more people come here, drop surf on the water and go on a water excursion. Just you, the mysterious lake and the mountains!
