Estate Sharapovo

Sharapovo, Chekhov district, Moscow region, Russian Federation

Description:

Sharapovo village is located 5 kilometers north-west of Chekhov. This estate belonged to G.N. Vasilchikov, who was a relative of one of the favorites of Empress Catherine II. Vasilchikovs are representatives of one of the most famous Russian noble families, famous for their affairs in the military and civil service.

From afar, at the entrance to the village of Sharapovo, you can see the Church of All Sorrows with a bell tower. The temple was built in 1815, and the bell tower and refectory appeared in the half of the XIX century. This architectural complex is built in quite archaic forms for that period. For example, the round windows of the second tier of the church and the refectory are more characteristic of classicism of the late XVIII century.

Not far from the church is a modest at first glance two-storey brick house - this is the lord's house, which was the central core of the estate. Today, it houses a local school. The building was built in the second half of the XVIII century. Particularly noteworthy are the tile ovens on the second floor decorated with cannelled Ionic pilasters. Once from the main gate to the house led a picturesque alley, from which only fragments have survived.
