About the company:
Having a solid repertoire list and enviable audience love, today the theater is one of the leading centers of Chelyabinsk in the education of children and adolescents. The Theatre has earned this recognition for its fascinating theatrical lessons. For the youngest viewers, this is a colorful world of fairy tales. Accustomed to informal gatherings of teenagers, the theater was fascinated by bold projects and an unexpected reading of the classics – the same “Hamlet”, for example, “Woe from Wit”, “Inspector”. About the eternal, topical, painful, he conducts his clever dialogues with young people. And it all began with the “Golden Key” and the play-dispute “They and We”. These performances became a kind of tuning fork in the further creative life of the theater, in which the world of dreams, fiction, poetry organically combined with passionate reflections on the selection of the path, the right to their own vision and understanding of the surrounding world. It was the late '60s. The TYZ of Chelyabinsk managed to get infected with the atmosphere of the “thaw”. The breath of freedom was then given to him by the brilliant modern dramaturgy of the sixties. Bulat Okudzhava, Leonid Zhukhovitsky, Radiy Pogodin, Alexander Khmelik, Anatoly Alexin - these names were built and tempered the repertoire and creative foundation of the Chelyabinsk theater, which, like many youth theaters at that time, boldly assumed the mission of the society for the protection of children. He developed a whole concept of children's theater. Since that freedom-loving time, the Chelyabinsk Youth Theatre has managed to preserve sincerity, openness, and courage of search for all subsequent years. It is said that it is largely helped by its own walls built on the main square in 1903, the People's House - the first public building of the city. But what can even the most legendary, ancient walls or luxurious interiors without the people who inspire them with their work? Even in such a financially unstable time as today, the theater manages to produce a season of six or seven premieres. And these are not early one-days with the selection of worn suits and old props. These are premiers in the full sense of the word. That is, colorful bright holidays with an immense expanse of imagination and fiction of set designers, musicians, lighting artists, special effects specialists, workers of all workshops. “Dollhouse”, “At the ball of luck”, “Masquerade”, “Thunderstorm”, “Hotel “Astoria” (the play is staged for the 60th anniversary of the Great Victory), “Scarlet Sails”, “Academy of Pan Klyaxy”, “Pluft, or a small ghost”, “Bambi”, “Sword of old man Tu”, “A very simple story”, “Do not play with archangels” “Small tragedies”, “Marriage”, “Siltyucan Apostle”, “Russian happiness” are quite impressive pages of the history of the theater. Today, the repertoire of the Theatre has more than twenty performances for all tastes and ages, which means the main goal of the theater - a theater for the whole family. The natural result of such a purposeful and stable work of the theater is constant participation in All-Russian and International Theatre Festivals and Competitions. Among them are the Orenburg “Gostiny Dvor”, “Melikhov Spring”, Kazan “Youth of Theater Russia”, Magnitogorsk “Theater Without Borders”, Yekaterinburg “Real Theater”. At the regional festival "Scene-2006" the original project of the main artist Anton Slastnikov - the play "Dreams about the Little Mermaid" based on the fairy tale of H.K. Andersen was recognized as the best children's performance of the season. In April 2007, the Theatre presented “Dreams about the Little Mermaid” at the IV All-Russian Festival of Theatre Art for Children “Harlekin” in St. Petersburg. The performance “A Very Simple Story” by M. Lado won the main prize of the IV International Festival for Teenagers “On the Threshold of Youth” (Ryazan). At the All-Russian competition of performances promoting the ideas of patriotism, love for the Motherland, the Youth Theatre presented the play “Hotel Astoria” by A. Stein. The theater staff was recognized as the Regional Leader in 2006. Today, the youth troupe is young, promising; the average age is about 30 years. I am constantly in a creative search. A little history... In 1903, the People's House was built in Chelyabinsk - one of the first public buildings of the city to conduct cultural and educational work and organize leisure for citizens. In Chelyabinsk there was a cultural center with the largest theater and concert hall, library-reading room, tea room. Since May 1917, the Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies and the Chelyabinsk Youth Union have been working in the People’s House. Until 1921, the People's House was the stage stage of the theater groups of Chelyabinsk. On the stage of the People’s House, the troupe of the Chelyabinsk Department of Public Education performed, in which writers L. N. Seifullin and P. V. Pravdukhin took part. And since 1921, the Chelyabinsk City Drama Theatre begins its work in the building. During the Great Patriotic War, from October 1941 to September 1942, the Moscow Academic Maly Theatre worked in the theater. Until 1982, the Chelyabinsk Drama Theater named after S. M. Zwilling worked in the building of the People's House, now the Chelyabinsk State Academic Drama Theater named after Naum Orlov. In 1991, after restoration, in the good walls of the People’s House, the play “Bloody Wedding” by Tengiz Makharadze and Tatiana Selvinskaya based on the play by F. G. Lorki opened its 24th season Theater of Young Audiences. In 2003, the University celebrated the Century of the People’s House.
