Chelyabinsk

Zyuratkul National Park

Description:

Zyuratkul is a beautiful alpine lake located in Satkinsky district of the Chelyabinsk region. Mirror water surface is surrounded by mountain ranges covered with dark coniferous forests - Urenga, Lukash, Nurgush, Moskal and Zyuratkul. The name of the reservoir can be translated from Bashkir as “heart-lake”. If you look at it from above, it really looks like a heart.

As the old legend says, many years ago in these places lived a girl named Jurma, capricious and spoiled bride. Many rich and noble people asked for her hand, but no one managed to win the heart of the beauty. Jurma refused all grooms and returned their generous gifts with contempt. Once the girl in anger broke a magic mirror, presented to her by the hero Semigor. One of the fragments flew far into the mountains and turned into a beautiful lake. Since then, the lake has attracted people like a magnet. Having visited here once, they can not forget it, as could not forget the beautiful Yurma hero Semigor, and strive to its shores, as if on a date with a beloved. Therefore, they called the magical lake Zyuratkul - "heart-lake".

For its picturesque landscapes, high-altitude location (724 m above sea level) and amazingly clear water, Zyuratkul is often called the Ural Ritsa. The surroundings of the lake are considered the most environmentally friendly place in the Chelyabinsk region.

On the shore of Lake Zyuratkul there were once parking lots of primitive people. Scientists have discovered 12 sites of fishermen and hunters of the Stone Age (VIII - V millennium BC). On the shore of the lake were found household items and remains of ancient dwellings, silicon and jasper crafts, fragments of vessels with ornament. The climate on Lake Zyuratkul is quite severe. Winter comes here early, spring - late. In summer and autumn there is often fog, often storms rise. Thanks to this climate, this place remained almost pristine, untouched. In 1993, the Zyuratkul National Park was created here. Tourist routes of varying complexity are laid on the territory of the park: from an excursion along the lake shore and an ecological "Small Bear Trail" with a length of five kilometers to a multi-day hike through the highest ridge in the Chelyabinsk region - Nurgush.
