The length of the Ilmen ridge from north to south is 41 km. The widest southern part of the reserve has 13 kilometers, and the northern, narrowest, only five.

Since December 1, 1935, minerals, flora and fauna are protected in the reserve. Accordingly, in the reserve it is impossible to hunt birds and animals, fish in lakes, collect mushrooms and berries in forests, cut trees, make fires and, most importantly, extract minerals.

Any economic activity is prohibited. But you can admire the grandeur and generous beauty of the unique Ural nature, marvel at its riches. They say in the Urals: “Who has not been to Ilmen, the Urals have not seen.” Ilmens are picturesque at all times of the year and are waiting for guests.
