Monument-mausoleum to Vladimir Lenin on the Red Field
Chelyabinsk region, Chelyabinsk, Scarlet Field
Description:
The monument-mausoleum of V.I. Lenin on the Red Field in the city of Chelyabinsk was opened on July 15, 1925 and its shape resembles the mausoleums of the East - a two-storey granite monument with two side staircases. The monument-mausoleum on the Red Field also has a second floor in the form of a balcony with metal fences, and a niche for the bust, in which a bronze bust of Lenin by M. Y. Kharlamov is now placed. On the sides of the monument, you can also see niches in which commemorative obelisks are placed.
The author of the project is N.M. Chekasin (librarian of the Chelyabinsk bibcollector, who won the competition for the project of the monument to Lenin), the financing was carried out by the workers of Chelyabinsk (voluntarily and voluntarily-forced).
If we consider the monument from an architectural point of view, it is impossible not to notice the influence of the mausoleum located in Moscow, only instead of the body of Ilyich there are books with ideas and appeals.
The opening of the monument was timed to the next anniversary of the liberation of the Urals from Kolchak, and a sign was installed on the main facade: "The monument to V. I. Lenin was built in 1925 at the expense of workers in Chelyabinsk."
