Ivan Lake
Russia, Trans-Baikal Territory
Description:
Ivan is a lake with rounded outlines and a flat view of an uneven bottom. The south-eastern part of the lake is cut by several capes, there is also a shallow Kurya Bay, the depth of which does not exceed one and a half meters. Relatively recently, a few decades ago in Lake Ivan it was possible to catch a pike and perch in large numbers, spruces and carp... But recently, the situation has deteriorated dramatically, and the fish in the lake has decreased.
However, today the course of events tried to change dramatically - and in September 2011 in Ivan-Lake was launched about half a million fry of sazan, brought by a refrigerator from the Irkutsk region. The “resettlement operation” took minimal time – in order for the fish to safely reach their new habitat, drivers had to overcome more than a thousand kilometers in about 26 hours! The purpose of this complex event is to help improve the water condition in Lake Ivan - grown-up grass-fed carpets are quite capable of clearing the lake, which in a year manages to fully overgrown. And in a few years, the inhabitants of the lake will give their first spawning, which will allow us to talk again about the Trans-Baikal Lake Ivan as a place of glorious fishing.
