Description:

Since 1994, the Daursky Reserve has been part of waterlands of international importance, and in 1997 its territory was included in the international reserve "Dauria", along with the Mongolian "Mongol-Daguur" and the Chinese "Dalai Lake". At the same time, UNESCO awarded the Russian Daursky Reserve the status of a biosphere reserve.

The Daursky Reserve is a steppe zone with dry short summers and cold dry winters characteristic of a sharply continental climate. Sharp fluctuations in daily and seasonal temperatures have caused the peculiarities of the flora and fauna of the protected area, many of which belong to rare species listed in the Red Book. Depending on the state of the Torei lakes, the water level in them and the amount of precipitation, the wildlife in different seasons changes, and here you can find birds that have arrived from both polar and desert regions.
