Lake Zun-Torei
Russia, Trans-Baikal Territory.
Description:
Lake Zun-Torey is located in the southern part of the Trans-Baikal Territory, which means that it enters the zone with a sharply continental climate - summer is short, but hot, and winters are fierce and dry.
Temperature differences and the amount of precipitation are reflected both in the relief of the reservoir and in the composition of the water: with a large amount of precipitation, the area of Zun-Toreya can reach three hundred square kilometers, while in a dry year the lake almost completely dries up, and the only island turns into a kind of cape-penisland. The largest depth of the lake is 6.76 meters. Zun-Torei has a rounded shape, the outlines of the coast are smooth and pologous, the line is little indented.
Partly Lake Zun-Torey is part of the Daur Biosphere Reserve, organized in 1989.
