Heetay-Dry Cave

Trans-Baikal Territory, Russia 286 km C

Description:

Heetay Caves are two karst caves that are located next door and are connected by a narrow underground ponnel. Their total length is 190 meters, and the amplitude is 35 meters.

Heetay-Sukhaya Cave consists of a funnel, which is larger in depth and area than the funnel of its neighbor - Heetay-Ice Cave. The bottom here is littered with huge blocks of limestone.

Upstairs near the funnel found fragments of ceramics, microscrapers, arrowheads and more. In both halls of the caves, bones of Holocene and Pleistocene animals were found.

The caves were discovered in 1735, when they were discovered by IG Gmelin, who made a survey of the Onon-Borzin valley. And since the 1970s, these caves have become a sightseeing object. Please note that you need special equipment to visit.
