About the company:

In 1919, at the Department of Public Education, a group of local intellectuals founded the Dmitriev Museum of Rodinology. The first director was Alexei Feodosevich Vangenheim, later the organizer and first head of the Unified Hydrometeorological Service of the USSR. The exhibits were collected by the museum staff, some donated by visitors and the investigative commission during the requisition of private property.

During the fascist occupation, the museum was completely destroyed, exhibits were looted and burned. It was reopened in 1946, the director was Mikhail Maximovich Gorbovtsev.
