Bird gorge - waterfall Maiden Spits, glacier Ptysh
Description:
The most remote, quiet, wild and very beautiful gorge. It's a day trip. Suitable for trained tourists. The first part of the route is the same as on the route to Chuchkhur waterfall in the Dombai-Ulgen gorge. In the Ptysh gorge, we will see picturesque waterfalls, and really resembling maiden braids, about 50 meters high. If you are lucky, you can meet Caucasian tours (mountain goats) - endemics of this area. And if you go even further, there in the depths of the gorge you can already feel the breath of the mighty Ptysh glacier.
Update: In August 2022, two bombs of the Second World War were exposed on the Ptysh glacier. They've been defused. The gorge was closed to the public. Although the path to the glacier was previously closed, due to the fact that the glacier due to melting has become unsafe for inexperienced tourists. I hope that the route will open by 2023 next season.
