Yegoryevsk

Egoriev Historical and Art Museum

Sovetsk street, 73/20, Egorievsk

About the company:

The museum in Egorievsk was established in 1911 on the initiative and at the expense of the local textile manufacturer and philanthropist Mikhail Nikiforovich Bardygin. Initially, the museum was housed in the building of the factory library, after the revolution of 1917 it did not have its own building.

Since 1946, the Egorievsky Museum of Local History was located in the house of the merchant Kulakov (now the Department of History of the EIHM). In 1989, to accommodate the preserved collections of M.N. Bardygin, a dilapidated mansion in the city center was transferred to the museum (an architectural monument of the XIX century). Ten years lasted the restoration and adaptation of the building as a museum, the preparation of collections for exhibition. On September 25, 1999, the art department of the Yegoryev Historical and Art Museum (since 1992) opened its doors to visitors.

The art project of the exposition was made by the laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, museum designer Evgeny Abramovich Rosenblum (1919-2000).
