Centre for Contemporary Dramaturgy

The creation of the Center for Contemporary Drama in Yekaterinburg is a step more than justified. First of all, the fact that there is a serious dramaturgical school, the main master and inspirer of which is Nikolai Vladimirovich Kolyada.

The center of modern drama is not a theater in the traditional sense of the word. The main goal of the Center for Contemporary Drama is the promotion and popularization of modern drama: from the native Ural drama (the school of Nikolai Kolyada) to foreign.

The center works on the principles of Western theater – we do not have a well-organized troupe, we create a new creative team for each performance, for each reading; we do not have a director with a directing education – we adhere to the author’s theater, in particular, the playwright’s theater. The priority is the creation of new theatrical forms, the search for innovative approaches in working with drama.

The center of modern drama strives not only to show something new and interesting, but also to comprehend it. We are discussing plays, the laboratory of modern drama.
