King's Bridge

ooh Decembristov, Yekaterinburg

Description:

The Royal Bridge over the Iset River is located in Yekaterinburg on Decembristov Street. It was built in 1889 by the architect S.S. Kozlov. Today the bridge has the status of a historical and architectural monument of federal significance. The history of the construction of the bridge is associated with a visit to Yekaterinburg by Tsar-Emperor Alexander I. On the occasion of such an event, the first wooden bridge was built on the path along which the emperor was to pass. History has not preserved information about whether Alexander I passed on it, but since then the avenue and the bridge became known as the Tsarsky.

The stone bridge was built on the site of a wooden bridge twelve years later. It is a massive stone structure consisting of three gentle arched vaults that rest on low stone bulls. The bridge fence is modern. A few years ago, railings and lanterns were replaced by new ones.
