Dendrological Park-Exhibition in Yekaterinburg
yekaterinburg, St. May Day, 87
Description:
The first arboretum on Pervomaiskaya Street was established in 1932, when a research plant for landscaping was founded here. On the site of the pine forest in the autumn of 1934, under the leadership of S. L. Stelmakhovich, planting of various plants imported from other regions began. The main landings were carried out in 1935-1936. Until 1962, more than 300 species and varieties of plants were introduced here from Siberia, the Far East, North America, European, Asian and West Siberian regions. In the 1960s, the first collection rose garden of the Urals opened in the park, in which up to 100 species of roses were cultivated by the 1990s. In 1962 the park was opened to the public. According to legend, before the opening of the park, there was a swamp in its place, from which the Malakhovka River flowed, which has now disappeared.
In the park there are 2 ponds on which ducks are found.
